Jimmy Green Offer a comprehensive range of ropes suitable for use as halyards.  Please read the brief descriptions below to guide you to the most suitable type.

Liros Braid on Braid (Top Cruising) is manufactured to the very highest specification with a 20 plait high tensile low stretch polyester cover and a 100% high tensile low stretch polyester heat set plaited core. LIROS Braid on Braid is nonkinking, long lasting and doesn't flatten under load like Marlowbraid. It has up to 5% stretch at the breaking point.

Marlowbraid has a twisted 3-strand core giving slightly less stretch (4%) than braid-on-braid (4%). Marlowbraid also has a tough polyester jacket providing excellent abrasion resistance. It is a proven performer for racing cruisers that are keen to cut out as much stretch as possible without paying for dyneema.

Liros Crusing dyneema (Dynamic Plus) has a slightly thinner dyneema core compared to its full racer dyneema equivilent  but still has less than 2% stretch at the breaking point. This equates to weight and cost savings, making it an ideal racing sheet or halyard for cruisers and racers alike.

Liros Racer is a new type of dyneema rope with a very high breaking load and low stretch with a specially engineered 32-plait cover of high quality spin-dyed Polyester. The core is made out of the new generation dyneema fibre (SK78) designed specifically for halyards and sheets on racing yachts where high loads are present. The 32-plait, high-tenacity polyester sheath is extremely resistant to abrasion making it ideal for use with winches. It stretches less than 1.5% at the breaking point.

Liros 3-strand Pre-stretched polyester is a traditional halyard which only has 4% stretch at the breaking point. It is suitable for use on vessels up to 11m as an inexpensive alternative to braided line.

We still make plenty Wire to Rope halyards every year. Especially for those who like the wear resistance and low stretch characteristics of wire and also for those who don't want to change their sheaves at the top of the mast in order to facilitate Hi Tech Low Stretch Dyneema Rope Halyards.

Jimmy Green are happy to splice your existing snap or captive pin shackles onto your new halyard. Simply advise us via email or phone shortly after ordering and post them to us with a covering note.   Please note that we need to be advised asap because rope orders are often spliced within hours of receipt.
